General Questions/New to Joomla! 5.x • Error: Session has expired when creating new accounts

Hi there,
My site runs jomsocial but I am told that this isn't related to the extention. A number of users who have tried to register have been reporting that they receive a message telling them that their session has expired.

I have tried to recreate the problem and can't seem to be able to. They have said they have cleaned their browser cache and cookies, tried a different browser and even tried signing up using an android phone.

Im very confused as it is not one or two people its dozens. I have tried to run the forum post tool but I get the error: "You do not have permission to view this resource. Please contact the Site Administrator."

My site was created by someone who passed away recently, so I am not able to ask him, and my knowledge is very limited to pressing backup and pressing the update buttons when they appear.
